Hearst Newspapers' Americans with Disabilities (ADA) employee resource group hosted a disability awareness event featuring Soledad O'Brien; Bryan Bashin of the U.S. AbilityOne Commission and blindness advocate of BeMyEyes; and Jenny Lay-Flurrie, chief accessibility officer of Microsoft. They shared insights on neurodivergence, deaf culture, disability etiquette and inclusive hiring.

  • In 2021, to enhance DE&I efforts, Hearst Newspapers launched the ENGAGE program, focused on building strong leadership so that the colleague experience is not only improved but best-in-class. There are four levels: senior managers, managers, emerging talent and inclusive interviewing. Each is tailored for the skill-building and honing needed to create trust-based environments and equip managers to take on more complex challenges and work strategically in areas that matter.
