For the first time, Men’s Health and Women’s Health teamed up to introduce the 2023 class of Strength in Diversity, an initiative that offers trainers from marginalized communities the chance to be mentored by elite fitness professionals and gain valuable knowledge from leaders across the wellness industry.

The Beauty of Latinx Design

Latinx, an employee resource group, led by executive sponsor Nina Garcia, ELLE Editor-in-Chief, celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with “The Beauty of Latinx Design,” in partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Museum at FIT's ‘Moda Hoy’ exhibit. The program featured, one-on-one conversations with renowned Latinx fashion designers Narciso Rodriguez, Maria Cornejo, Gabriela Hearst and Willy Chavarria, who shared their unique perspectives on the intersection of fashion and heritage.

Hearst Magazines empowers colleagues to participate in employee resource groups (ERGs) so that they can celebrate cultures, collaborate and foster an atmosphere of respect, openness and new ideas.

  • Accessible@Hearst is dedicated to making Hearst Magazines a leader in workplace empowerment for people with disabilities and their allies by creating a community that provides support, raises awareness and advocates for accessible experiences at the workplace, in Hearst content and beyond.

  • Inspire allyship, advocacy and action by building empathy and understanding through conversation and education about race.

  • Create a space and sense of community for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) employees where ideas and culture are celebrated.

  • Provide a safe space and amplify Black voices and perspectives through storytelling, advocacy and events to help build community and culture for Black employees.

  • Create and facilitate a safe space for LGBTQ+ employees across Hearst Magazines through sharing experiences and connections and discussing important issues that affect that community.

  • Create a safe space for Latinx employees across Hearst Magazines to congregate, network and connect with their culture, with the purpose of nurturing an internal community and creating a positive impact for the external Latinx community.

  • Spark conversations about the things that matter to women at work to build leaders, community and culture at Hearst.

Enlightened

Enlightened is Hearst Magazines’ diversity, equity and inclusion programming. The curriculum is co-created with industry-leading experts and delivers impactful content around various dimensions of diversity — ability, age, faith, gender, gender identity, race and sexual orientation.

The purpose of Enlightened is to help engage colleagues in conversations that ultimately influence their behaviors in the workplace. It’s another way Hearst Magazines equips leaders with tools for managing inclusive teams and sets a new standard for creating an inclusive workplace.

  • Founded by Glenn Singleton, Courageous Conversation provides training, coaching and consulting to transform beliefs, behaviors and results so people of all races can achieve at their highest levels and live their most empowered and powerful lives.

  • The National Organization on Disability (NOD) seeks to increase employment opportunities for the 60-percent of working age Americans with disabilities who are not employed.   • Underpinned by four core pillars of mental health, wellbeing, development and leadership, PUSH Mind & Body uses data-driven insight to build highly personalized programs of live training, one-to-one coaching and digital tools that we know your people want and need.

Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP)

Hearst Magazines partnered with MAIP to host two interns during an 11-week summer program. MAIP offers multicultural students a unique paid, full-time summer internship at 4A’s participating agencies and organizations nationwide, combining real-world work experience and networking opportunities within the media industry.

Hearst Magazines engages with public and private partners to further its DE&I mission.

  • ADCOLOR is a premier diversity and inclusion organization whose mission is to celebrate and champion diversity in creative industries. ADCOLOR hosts their annual ADCOLOR Everywhere conference, a gathering for professionals at all levels, bringing together esteemed leaders in the creative industries for thought leadership, networking and engagement opportunities. Hearst Magazines was a Community Partner for this year’s ADCOLOR Conference and worked in partnership with the hAAPI ERG and the Asians for ADCOLOR community group to support the panel “More Stories to Tell: Unifying Asian Americans Through Media.”
